Palin Protests Cookie Ban, Calls Pa. A 'Nanny State Run Amok'
PLUMSTEADVILLE, Pa. (CBS) -- Sarah Palin was shaking things up during a visit to the Plumstead Christian School in Bucks County Wednesday night.
Palin brought cookies for the students, which sounds like a nice gesture, but was actually in protest to a proposal in Pennsylvania to fight childhood obesity partly by banning cookies and other sweets in classroom parties.
"Who should be making the decisions what you eat and school choice? Should it be government or should it be the parents? It should be the parents," Palin emphatically said.
Palin called Pennsylvania "a nanny state run amok" and said she couldn't believe the ban was being considered in the same place that's home to Hershey.
As for politics, and possibly running for president, the former vice presidential candidate says she's considering her options.
"It would be careful consideration and then getting a good lay of the political landscape ... because I'd be in it to win it," said Palin.
Palin says she would not run for president to just shake things up, but rather if she thought she would be a serious contender.
