Paint-Covered Horse Adopted By Jon Stewart And Wife Dies
MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (AP) — A horse adopted by Jon Stewart and his wife after it was found seemingly abandoned at an auction stable in Pennsylvania has died at their New Jersey farm.
Tracey Stewart wrote on the farm's Facebook page that the white mare named Lily died at the Stewarts' farm in Middletown on Sunday.
The horse was found covered in paint and the Lancaster County SPCA reported she had been shot by paintballs. But the horse's former owner says the horse was actually used as a canvas at children's finger-painting parties.
Doreen Weston says the horse was about 35 years old and she wanted it euthanized because its quality of life was so poor. A horse dealer she gave it to was convicted of transporting a horse in poor condition.
