Pain At The Pump Continues To Rise

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Gas prices are on another dreaded upward climb. For the past month, they've risen almost every day.
Gas stations on City Avenue showed prices hovering around Monday's state average of $3.74. That's almost a quarter higher than one month ago.
"I have to make hardcore decisions on what will be fun for my family and what we can't do. We spend a lot of time at home now," said consumer Patricia Lyles.
These prices are a steal compared to prices in other parts of Philadelphia, which are painfully close to the $4.00 mark.
One gas station in East Falls was one cent away Sunday night, at $3.99 for a gallon of regular. A station in South Philadelphia showed the same price.
That price isn't far off from the highest recorded average price in Pennsylvania of $4.07 in July of 2008, according to AAA.
"It hurts the pocket a little bit. I'm kind of used to them, I try to not let them affect me anymore," said consumer Kathleen Harvey.
Experts say there are a combination of reasons that explain why we are seeing this spike, including the rise in crude oil prices, as well as the anticipation of higher demand, as the job and housing markets show signs of improvement.
