Pa. State Police Search For I-95 Hit-Run Driver(s) Approaching Four Months
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The family of a victim killed by a hit-run driver along the lanes of I-95 April 4th is pleading for witnesses to come forward and help them in their search for justice.
Sixty-one-year-old Wilfred Fleischmann was heading to North Carolina from Germany to visit his daughter and one-year-old granddaughter Nina when, during a layover at Philadelphia International Airport, he walked onto the lanes of I-95 and was struck by a driver who sped into the darkness.
The victim's daughter, Anita Garza, believes her dad may have been cutting across the highway, after missing a shuttle from a nearby hotel.
"He was just a person of pure gold," she told CBS 3,"You could not have met a better person than my dad."
Despite heavy traffic, Pa. State Police say only a few witnesses have come forward.
The best description of the striking vehicle, police say, a Ford Bronco with a rear spare tire bracket, missing the tire.
Police also hope someone at an auto repair shop may recall a similar vehicle that had heavy front end and windshield damage.

For the killer, who took her father's life, Mrs. Garza had these words, "What if it was your family member? What would you say if it was your family member?"
"If you loved that person so much," she concluded, "and he was taken that way. What would you do? What would you want?"
