Pa. Prison Guard To Stand Trial For Alleged Sexual Assault Of Inmate
SCHWENKSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A corrections officer has been ordered to stand trial on charges he sexually assaulted an inmate at a prison in suburban Philadelphia.
Forty-year-old Upper Darby resident Christopher M. Ganues is facing charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion and other counts in connection with the alleged September 2012 assault at the State Correctional Institution at Graterford.
He was ordered to stand trial during a hearing Thursday.
Authorities allege Ganues approached the victim in his cell while inmates were preparing for showers at the prison and threatened to transfer him to restricted housing if he didn't comply with Ganues' request for sexual favors. Police say the inmate reported he complied because of the threats.
Ganues' attorney did not comment after the hearing.
