Pa. Man Killed In Crash On I-495 In Delaware
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Delaware State Police are investigating a three-car crash on Interstate 495 that left one man dead.
The crash occurred about 3:30 a.m. Friday as 32-year-old Edwin W. Trill Jr. of Ridley Park, Pa., was driving a box truck northbound toward Edgemoor Road.
Investigators say the front of the truck struck the rear of a 1995 tractor-trailer that was stopped in traffic because of an earlier crash in Claymont. The tractor-trailer was pushed forward into the rear of another tractor-trailer.
Trill, who investigators believe was not wearing his seatbelt, was flown to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead.
The drivers of the tractor-trailers were not seriously injured.
The crash forced the closing of northbound I-495 for about four hours.
