Pa. Father And Son Acquitted Of Sex Trafficking Still Get Prison Time
NEW YORK (AP) — A Pennsylvania father and son who were acquitted in New York of sex trafficking will spend time in prison for promoting prostitution and money laundering.
The sentencing was Monday in Manhattan for Vincent George Sr. and Vincent George Jr., of Allentown, Pa. Each was given three to nine years in prison.
Several prostitutes had testified on their behalf. The women said they considered themselves to be one big family.
Defense attorneys called them "happy hookers."
Prosecutors said the women were too traumatized to admit they had been abused. They had alleged the prostitutes made as much as $500,000 a year for the Georges but got only a few dollars a night.
The women painted a different picture, saying they were treated to nice cars, vacations and affection from their pimps.
