Pa. Execs Get Prison For Fatal Bone Cement Trial
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Three former medical device company executives have been sentenced to prison for what the judge called egregious conduct motivated by money without regard for the care of patients. Authorities say several patients deaths have been linked to rogue clinical trials of bone cement.
Two former Synthes executives have been sentenced to 9 months in prison, and a third has been sentenced to 5 months. In a presentence memo, the government told the court the conduct amounted to illegal human experiments and Judge Legrome Davis told former Synthes North America President Michael Huggins there was a total disregard for the care, the treatment and the continued existence of the patients.

The defense has sought probation.
