Pa. Counselor Pleads No Contest To False Kidnap Report
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania woman who provided court-ordered domestic counseling services has pleaded no contest plea to charges that she falsely reported being abducted and sexually assaulted by one such client.
Centre County prosecutors maintain 51-year-old Cindy Brumbaugh, of Howard, faked the report to cover up her affair with the man.
Brumbaugh had previously pleaded no contest to the charges, only to withdraw the plea and demand a trial.
Instead, Brumbaugh changed her mind again and pleaded no contest on Thursday, after a jury had been seated for the trial.
Brumbaugh was charged in September, a few days weeks after state police say her husband found out she was in a car crash with the male client. Police say Brumbaugh lied because she had spent the night in a motel with the client.
She'll be sentenced Aug. 14.
