Schuylkill Expressway Reopened After Tractor Trailer Crash
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – An overturned tractor trailer shutdown the eastbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway for nearly five hours Tuesday.
The accident happened at about 9 a.m. in the eastbound lanes right before the 28th Street exit.
Chopper 3 HD was over the scene where it showed the tractor trailer on its side and across all three lanes of traffic.
All eastbound traffic was blocked between the University City and South Street exits.
Traffic was finally reopened at about 1:30 p.m.
Authorities say the driver of the tractor trailer was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
According to police, the driver of the tractor trailer did not slow down enough and lost control while trying to navigate a left hand curve. The vehicle then slid about 200 feet before coming to a stop and blocking all three eastbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway.
