Over 100 Women Evacuated From 'Baseball 101' Event After Earthquake Felt At Citizens Bank Park
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The earthquake was felt at Citizens Bank Park, where team officials were holding a silent auction for attendees at a "Baseball 101" event.
When the Diamond Club began to move, master of ceremonies Scott Palmer calmly evacuated more than 100 women, many of whom admitted becoming confused and a little shaken up.
"Maybe a little scared when I got the chills all over my body," said one. "Maybe a little. But okay now."
Stadium chief engineer Dave Abramson found himself stranded on an elevator when the quake hit.
"As the doors closed it really started moving around and the elevator started traveling, but it was banging sideways in the chamber," Abramson told KYW Newsradio. "Luckily it only went one floor and it opened, and I stepped out immediately."
People milled about outside the ballpark for about 45 minutes before they were given the all-clear.
