Organizers Expect Record Crowds For 2012 Philadelphia Antiques Show
By Mike Dunn
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Organizers of the annual Philadelphia Antiques Show are finalizing plans for this year's show, which will have a new home. And they're expecting bigger-than-ever crowds for the event in late April.
Buyers, collectors, and gawkers from all around the country flock each year to the Philadelphia Antiques Show, and this year brings more spacious digs: the Pennsylvania Convention Center (see related story).
"It's a world-class facility with a lot of space," says event chairwoman Gretchen Riley, at an event this morning at City Hall. "We will have more dealers than ever before."
The Antiques Show runs from April 28th through May 1st, and thousands are expected.
"We have very serious collectors who come every year, we have first-time buyers, and we have people who want to learn about antiques," she said.
The show in past years was at the Armory in West Philadelphia, and more recently at the Navy Yard.
