Oneida Nation To Run Anti-'Redskins' Spot Before Sunday's Eagles Game

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The controversy over the Washington Redskins' team name hits the radio airwaves in Philadelphia this weekend.
The Oneida Indian Nation is bringing its campaign against the name "Redskins" here in advance of the Eagles' game against Washington this Sunday, at Lincoln Financial Field.
In a pregame advertisement to air on the Eagles' flagship station, Sportsradio 94 WIP, Oneida Indian Nation representative Ray Halbritter thanks those in the sports world who have joined the growing call for the Redskins to find a new nickname because the current one is offensive to Native Americans.
"In the spirit of mutual respect, it is time for the Washington NFL team to change its name. No group deserves to be treated as a target of racial epithets," Halbritter says in the spot.
Redskins' owner Dan Snyder has steadfastly resisted a change, citing the decades of tradition behind the name.
