One Week Until the Annual Philadelphia Naked Bike Ride
With one week to go before the second annual Philly Naked Bike Ride, volunteers mobilized to discuss safety and get the word out about the event.
KYW's Hadas Kuznits reports Philly Naked Bike Ride volunteers hit the streets this weekend to get the word out about next week's ride.
Volunteer Barry Kline:
"We're here at the art museum, we're trying to hype up support."
(Kuznits:) "How is this year gonna be different than last year?"
"We're hoping for a bigger turnout this year."
He says some improvements are planned for the second annual Philly Naked Bike Ride:
"Last year people were nervous about getting naked initially so we threw a lot of stop in, so if you weren't ready to be naked in the beginning, you could stop a little ways in the ride and get naked. I think we're planning on having more of those."
And he says while riding naked certainly gets people's attention, there's an important message behind this event:
"We're riding for cyclist advocacy, to show how fragile we are in traffic, and we're riding to show what a big part of traffic we really are; some people bigger than others."
