One Suspect Arrested, Another On The Run After Lengthy Police Pursuit In Chester
CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) – Two suspects led Chester police on a wild ride on Tuesday afternoon in Delaware County.
Around 1:41 p.m., officers at 18th and Edgmont Avenue observed a 2010 red Ford F-150 driving at a high rate of speed. They activated their sirens, but the driver refused to pull over. Instead, he engaged police in a pursuit, striking numerous vehicles as he sped through traffic lights, stop signs, onto sidewalks and into oncoming traffic. The suspects sped through parks, parking lots and the Widener University campus while throwing what appeared to be drugs and contraband from a stolen vehicle with North Carolina plates.
During the ordeal, the stolen vehicle drove head on towards an officer, striking him in his unmarked police car. Shots were fired, and the vehicle finally came to a stop after crashing into a vacant home in the 300 block of East 10th Street.
A foot pursuit ensued, and the F-150's passenger, Reginald Brown, was taken into custody. A firearm was also removed from the vehicle.
A manhunt for the driver, identified as Basilio Clausell, Jr. is underway.
