Officials: Woman Slashed At SEPTA Station
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are investigating after they say a woman was slashed on her arm after a brief verbal exchange at a Market-Frankford El station Wednesday.
SEPTA Transit Police Chief Thomas Nestel says a 50-year-old woman was at the Margaret-Orthodox station about 9:30 a.m. waiting to board a train.
"She approached the fare line. A man began speaking to her. An argument ensued. The man punched her. She does not know that man, had never seen him before. She defended herself, fought back, at which point the man drew a razor and cut her on her forearm," said SEPTA Police Chief Tom Nestel.
Officials say the woman walked to a nearby hospital where she was treated for the wound.
Authorities say they are unsure what prompted the violence.
The incident is under investigation.
