Officials: Registered Sex Offender Who Impregnated Pre-teen May Have Had More Victims
CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS/AP) — Federal prosecutors say a registered sex offender who allegedly impregnated a 12-year-old southern New Jersey girl may have had more victims.
Joseph Anthony Caracciolo is charged with traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor. He was due to appear Tuesday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Camden, and faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
Authorities say the 47-year-old Caracciolo was arrested Aug. 28 in New York City. They claim he traveled between New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania to sexually assault the victim, who is now 13.
The child told authorities that Carraciolo — who used the names Joseph Crillo or Joseph Grillo — repeatedly had sex with her between May and August of 2012.
