Officials: Philadelphia School Superintendent Receives Emailed Threat
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police are investigating a threatening e-mail that officials say targeted the life of Philadelphia schools superintendent Arlene Ackerman early Sunday morning.
Ackermann says this isn't the first time she received threats, but this one stood out.
"This is pretty serious," she told KYW Newsradio this morning. "This is the worse that I've seen. Usually it's mild -- a phone call here and there, someone intercepts it -- but this, the email was such that I didn't even want to keep reading. It was pretty disturbing."
Ackerman says the email was addressed directly to her and was immediately provided to the district's head of safety, Myron Patterson, and the Philadelphia Police Department.
Police officers and a bomb dog conducted a search of the building, located in the 400 block of North Broad Street. Officials say there was no evidence of an explosive device.

School officials say additional safety measures were also put in place for Superintendent Ackerman.
