Officials: Dump Truck Mishap Led to Local Bridge Closure
Burlington County (NJ) Bridge Commission police say they're hunting a purple "Kenworth" brand dump truck that triggered a two-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon that closed the Burlington-Bristol bridge for nearly three hours.
KYW's Al Novack reports that according to police, the dump truck was loaded with crushed stones and was crossing the bridge in the eastbound lanes when a bar that holds a tarp fell from the truck and went through the window of a van in the westbound lane.
The van then veered out of control and struck another car.
The operator of the eastbound truck -- who may be unaware of the mishap -- continued into New Jersey.
The driver of the van was seriously injured. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen the truck should call bridge police at 856-829-3082.
