Officials Challenge Planned Interim Use of Diesel Generators By Revel's New Owner

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- Just as it looked as if the new owner of the Revel hotel-casino was about to address emergency power concerns at the place, a new issue has surfaced: air quality. And it's likely to set back their timetable a few more days.
New Jersey environmental officials say the large diesel generators that developer Glenn Straub has brought in to get the Revel's fire-suppression system operating again might not meet federal clean air standards.
Larry Hajna, spokesman for the Department of Environmental Protection, says Straub is working with the state to address that issue.
"The most likely scenario would be to bring in smaller diesel units that would burn more cleanly," he said.
Meanwhile, municipal fines continue to mount against Straub at the rate of $5,000 a day until the fire-suppression system is up and running.
