Officer Readmitted To Hospital After 2-Story Fall During Scuffle In Mayfair
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Philadelphia police officer injured in a fall out a second-story window during a scuffle with a suspect in Northeast Philadelphia has been re-admitted to the hospital.
The incident happened at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 6300 block of Leonard Street in the city's Mayfair section.
According to investigators, the 37-year-old officer was responding to a domestic dispute call when he encountered the suspect inside the home.
The officer and the suspect became involved in an altercation and during the scuffle, both men fell out a second-story window.
The officer was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was treated for neck, back and head injuries and released. Later in the day, the officer was re-admitted to the hospital for further examination of a head injury. The unidentified officer is listed in stable condition.
The suspect was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale Division with a leg injury.
Investigators say the suspect allegedly violated a protection from abuse order.
The incident remains under police investigation and charges are pending.
