Officer Fires Weapon In North Philly Scuffle
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Police officer fired shots fighting for his life early Monday morning when the suspect attacked him.
This happened on the 2400 block of 17th street in North Philadelphia around 1 a.m.
Authorities say the officer spotted the suspect with an object on his waistband with his hand on it. As the officer approached the man, the suspect began to flee when the officer told the suspect to stop.
In a brief scuffle between the officer and the suspect, the suspect put his hands on the waistband object when the officer fired two shots towards him.
Police say the suspect fled the scene and was not hit by gunfire.
An investigation is ongoing.
