Officer Fatally Shoots Driver After Being Dragged By Car In West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A police-involved shooting in Philadelphia left a suspect dead late Thursday evening.
The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. at 65th Street and Girard Avenue in West Philadelphia.
According to investigators, an officer was patrolling the area when he spotted a car driving recklessly.
The officer pulled the driver over and approached the car. During the stop, the officer's arm somehow ended up getting stuck inside the car. The suspect took off and dragged the officer several feet.
The officer was able to pull out his gun and opened fire on the suspect, striking him several times.
The unidentified suspect was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, but was later pronounced dead.
The officer was treated for minor injuries.
The deadly incident remains under investigation by Police Internal Affairs.
