Off-Duty Officer Assaulted Inside Frankford Bar
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - An off-duty Philadelphia police officer suffered minor injuries after trying to break up a fight inside a Northeast Philadelphia bar early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. at Pat's Café on Castor Avenue in Frankford.
According to investigators, a fight broke out inside the bar and an unidentified off-duty police officer intervened and tried to break up the altercation.
Police say the suspects then assaulted the officer before running out of the bar.
Responding officers eventually caught up with the suspects on Foulkrod Street.
The off-duty officer suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK.
Pat's Café is the same bar where Officer Gary Skerski was fatally shot during a robbery in 2006.
