Off-Duty Burlington County Officer Killed In Car Accident
PEMBERTON, N.J. (CBS) - An off-duty Burlington County police officer died Sunday following an early morning car accident, authorities said.
A little after 6 a.m., Patrolman Shawn Kitson, 28, of the Pemberton Township Police Department was driving along Pemberton Browns Mills Road, just east of Four Mile Road, when his vehicle crashed. He was rushed to Lourdes Hospital with extensive head trauma. Kitson later succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.
Pemberton police in conjunction with the New Jersey State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit are conducting an investigation into the accident and are asking anyone with information to contact police at 609- 894-3360.
Kitson, a six-year veteran of the department, is survived by his wife and 2-year-old son.
