Obama Surrogates Pummel Romney During His Visit to Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- While Mitt Romney makes his case to Republican supporters here in Philadelphia (see related story), area Democrats are also making their voices heard.
That leaked videotape of Romney saying that "47 percent" of Americans support President Obama because they depend on the government (see related story) has become low-hanging fruit for Romney's opponents. Two of those opponents held a news conference today to slam Romney over those remarks.
Former governor Ed Rendell pointed out that about 70 million working Americans don't pay taxes because they don't make enough money.
"To call them irresponsible, to say that they're interested in entitlements, is absolutely insulting and outrageous," Rendell told reporters.
Then, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (D-Pa.) picked up the hammer:
"Mitt Romney has made a certain choice, which is to really ignore, and he has really expressed a disdain for most Americans."

In addition, Rendell calls Pennsylvania's voter ID law a "confused jumble" that should be set aside at least until after the election.
