Obama, Biden Expected In Philadelphia This Week For Dems Policy Retreat
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The president and vice president are expected to be in Philadelphia this week for the house Democrats annual policy retreat.
Democratic lawmakers will be working on their agenda Wednesday through Friday. President Obama will speak at a dinner Thursday evening, and Vice President Biden will make an appearance on Friday.
It will be South Jersey Congressman Donald Norcross' first policy retreat. He says he looks forward to hearing from members on a variety of topics.
"Jobs and the economy and certainly education, affordable education for our children who want to go to college," he says. "That has been the back bone and we want to make sure that is the message moving forward."
Congressman Norcross is among members from this region who will be promoting Philadelphia as the place the next Democratic National Convention should be held.
"Yeah I think we will take them down to South Philly. They can get a cheese steak and I think the deal would be done on that alone," he laughed.
The DNC Advisory Committee is expected to announce the city where the 2016 convention will be held in coming weeks. Philadelphia, New York, and Columbus are in the running.
