NY Times Columnist Thomas Friedman To Speak At Kimmel
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Three-time Pulitzer prize winning commentator, New York Times columnist and author of The World Is Flat - Thomas Friedman kicks off this years Philadelphia Speakers' Series, at the Kimmel Center.
Thomas Friedman has been covering the Middle East since 1979. He says while the Iranian hostage crisis took even him by surprise, the country is still evolving through western influence and politics:
"I think that Iran is a country that really needs to be watched. Because I think it's got real politics there. Despite the authoritarian government, there's real politics, there is some freedom of press; women are in politics and in the parliament. I think the green revolution that we saw there, is just a little for-taste of what's to come."
Thomas Friedman kicks off the Philadelphia Speakers' Series Monday, October 11th at the Kimmel Center.
