Nutter Uses YouTube To Respond To Critical PFT Ad Campaign

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Mayor Nutter is mounting a decidedly low-budget rebuttal to the teacher union's ad campaign which slams him.
Nutter recorded five short videos and posted them on YouTube after weeks of ads from the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers.
"There was a lot of disinformation and misinformation out there about things that are knowable facts," Nutter said.
The PFT ads -- which accused him of joining with the Governor in cutting school funding -- have blanketed local radio and TV for the past few weeks. But Nutter has no ad budget, so his video rebuttal will not be found on radio or TV -- only on YouTube:
"To have information out that the city has cut the school district budget: that's a lie. I think the public is owed the facts, and that's why we put out public service announcements. Because people should get the facts," Nutter said.

Nutter's response came as the PFT pulled its latest ads -- a move that comes because union chief Jerry Jordan plans to meet privately this week with Nutter. Jordan, though, stands by the charges made in the PFT campaign.
