Nutter Says He Won't Abandon Philly, Won't Work In White House

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One day after President Barack Obama was re-elected, Mayor Michael Nutter is ending speculation that he would serve in the second Obama administration. And he vows to finish out his term here.
Mayor Nutter's national prominence got a boost this year when he was elected president of the US Conference of Mayors (see related story). And that in part fueled speculation that Nutter would be in line for a prominent post in the White House in a second Obama term.
But now, with the president's re-election a reality, Nutter is rejecting the speculation once and for all.
"Absolutely, 100 percent, I'm not going anywhere," Nutter said Wednesday outside his office in City Hall. "I love this job. I love this city. I have work still to do. And I look forward to working with the president in his second term by finishing out my second term."
Nutter's second term ends in January of 2016. He says he has made it crystal clear directly to Obama administration officials that he's staying put.
