Nutter Administration To Present Its Take On Applicants For City's 2nd Casino
By Mike Dunn
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The long and winding road to a second casino in Philadelphia continues today, as the Gaming Control Board hears the perspective of the Nutter Administration.
Six firms are in the running for a second casino license in Philadelphia, and today the Gaming Control Board will get a detailed review of those applications from the mayor's Commerce Director Alan Greenbeger.
Greenberger would not comment in advance of his appearance before the board, and neither would Mayor Nutter, who would only say, "You'll hear the testimony tomorrow when it comes out."
But a source tells KYW Newsradio Greenberger will not specifically name which of the six is the mayor's preferred applicant. Instead, the source says, Greenberger will describe what the Administration views as the pluses and minuses of each of the applicants.
The six firms are vying for the second gaming license that the Board had originally given to Foxwoods and that it later rescinded. The board is expected to hold more hearings before voting on the license.
