NTSB To Release Final Report On Deadly Duck Boat Crash
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Federal investigators are set to release their final report on last summer's deadly collision between a tour boat and a barge in Philadelphia.
The National Transportation Safety Board will release its findings during a public hearing Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
A preliminary NTSB report found the mate piloting the barge was on his cell phone dealing with a family emergency at the same time the duck boat was stalled in the busy shipping channel.
The July 7 crash killed two Hungarian students sent 35 others aboard the duck boat into the Delaware River.
A federal criminal investigation is under way. The parents of the students killed also have a wrongful-death lawsuit pending against the city and others.
Ride the Ducks has this spring resumed its amphibious tours in Philadelphia.
