Northern Liberties Community Members Gather To Wrap Gifts For Those In Need

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Santa's little helpers were busy in Northern Liberties Friday.

Hundreds of donated presents were piled up at the Northern Liberties Community Center, ready to be wrapped by a crew of volunteers.

Janet Finegar helps organize everything and she says the community center is providing a holiday meal for 38 families and toys for more than 150 children:

"These are my neighbors, so in a lot of cases, these are people that I actually know their children who go to school with my child. They're kids I've watched grow up in a lot of cases, so it's nice to be able to help them."

Some presents were expertly wrapped, some not so much. But 14-year-old Nora had a pretty good strategy, "I'm choosing the box shaped things now, so it's easier."

All the toys and food will be delivered to the families by volunteers on Saturday.
