PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A mini-mart in North Philadelphia was destroyed after a two-alarm fire ripped through the building late Thursday night.
Philadelphia fire officials say the fire broke out around 11 p.m. inside the Wesley Mini-Mart located at 15th and Clearfield Streets.
When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the store.
The fire reached two alarms before the building eventually collapsed. It took firefighters nearly two hours to place the blaze fully under control.
Several nearby homes were initially evacuated for safety purposes, but residents were allowed to return less than an hour later.
There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
