North Carolina Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested In New Jersey
APEX, N.C. (AP) — Police say a University of North Carolina student accused of robbing a bank in Apex has turned himself in to authorities in New Jersey.
Atlantic City police say they picked up 22-year-old Gordon Goodwin at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the lobby of the Borgata Casino Hotel and Spa.
Detectives say Goodwin walked into a SunTrust Bank on November 7 and handed a teller a note demanding money. He was later identified from surveillance video.
Goodwin is facing charges for common law robbery. No further details have been released, and authorities wouldn't say when Goodwin may be brought back to North Carolina.
Apex police said they planned to contact Wake County prosecutors Monday to discuss the case.
