Phils Fans Have Chance to Feed Area Families

By Community Affairs reporter Cherri Gregg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Fighting hunger takes a team effort and now Phils fans can join in the effort.

Citizens Bank is partnering with the Phillies to give fans a chance to feed families in the Greater Philadelphia area.

"Three-hundred-thousand children in our area get free meals during the school year, but during the summer many of these young people go hungry," says Dan Fitzpatrick, President of Citizens Bank for Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

He says the company donated $40,000 to Philabundance and hope Phils fans will help them raise even more money and collect enough food for 220,000 meals.

"There's a limited edition 'Phans Feeding Families' lapel pin," says Fitzpatrick, "each pin costs $5 and can provide seven meals for a family in need."

Fans can also donate food before Saturday's game or at the Comcast Center on Monday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
