Non-profit Releases Annual List Of The 10 Most Dangerous Toys
BOSTON, MA (CBS) – Just in time for the holidays, a watchdog group has released its list of the 10 most dangerous toys.
The list is compiled by World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (W.A.T.C.H.) and has been released annually since 1973. It focuses on the gifts parents should avoid giving to kids due to safety issues.
This year, the list includes items such as the Air Storm FireTek Bow, which is recommended for kids 8 and older, as well as a wooden instruments kit from Walmart marketed for babies.
Here are the organization's picks for the 10 most dangerous toys:
Air Storm FireTek Bow
Radio Flyer Ziggle
Catapencil
Alphabet Zoo Rock & Stack Pull Toy
SWAT Electric Machine Gun
Wooden Instruments from Walmart
Bottle Rocket Party
Lil' Cutesies Best Friends Doll
True Legends Orcs Battle Hammer
Toys R Us Colored Hedgehog
While some of these items are obvious (would you REALLY buy your five-year-old a replica machine gun?), others are not. The final item on the list, the Colored Hedgehog, poses a risk because of its inadequately rooted fur, which babies can reportedly ingest.
