Nominations Being Accepted For '10 Philadelphia Award

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Those organizing the Philadelphia Award are calling for nominations for the citizen who has done the best work for his or her community.

The Philadelphia Award was founded in 1921 by Edward W. Bok, a prolific publisher of such magazines as the Ladies Home Journal, to be given annually to a person who, during the previous year, has contributed a service or body or work that advances the best and largest interest of the community.

Susan Sherman, chair of the board of the Philadelphia Award Committee, says the winner receives a $25,000 grand prize.

"We're looking for any Philadelphian or a person who lives in the vicinity who's made a significant contribution to the city and performed such services or actions of such potential that the entire community is able to reap the benefit of that contribution."

The deadline for nominations is January 31st.  Go to www.philaaward.org.
