Nola Looks For Fresh Start As Phillies Host Marlins
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies will give the ball to right-hander Aaron Nola tonight as they open a four-game series with the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park.
Nola is 5-8 this season with a 4.69 ERA. At one point this season, Nola was 5-4 with a 2.65 ERA, but in his last five starts he has gone 0-4 with a 13.50 ERA. He hasn't pitched since July 2nd as his last start before the MLB All-Star Break was skipped.
In his career, Nola has made two starts (one this season) against Miami, going 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 14 innings of work.
Miami will counter on the mound with ace right-hander Jose Fernandez who is 11-4 this season with a 2.52 ERA. In five career starts against the Phillies, Fernandez is 1-1 with a 2.89 ERA.
