#NoFilter Needed: New Makeup Designed Specifically For Selfies

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  If you like taking selfies, you know the right lighting and angles are key.  But did you know there are some makeup products that are supposed to actually help you take a better selfie?

Nicole Borders admits she's a selfie addict! "Sometimes I'll take 100 selfies to get one nice one!" said Borders. The college student and aspiring model isn't alone.

And the makeup industry is taking notice with online tutorials and ads from major beauty companies promoting products that promise to leave you selfie ready in an instant. Cover Girl has a whole Instaglam product line. Maybelline has a marbleized baked eyeshadow that's supposed to offer dimensional color and a reflective finish, similar to filters and other effects available on your smartphone.

Board certified dermatologist Dee Anna Glaser says makeup companies are just using simple science to create these selfie-like effects. "Different particles can reflect light in different ways, and you can actually make shadows with makeup." said Glaser.

Doctor Glaser cautions that consumers should stick to one new product at a time when it comes to makeup. "The times when I see problems with makeup sensitivity comes when individuals are compounding these products.  Where they're putting different things together, and even though some of these products are all natural, all natural isn't always good for the skin," said Glaser.

And professional makeup artist Suzette Bourgeuis suggests avoiding products that have lots of extra fillers or dyes in order to create selfie effects. "If you want more of a cool tones look that they're getting on the filters and through Instagram and stuff like that, you have to be aware of the dyes they're putting in there," said Bourgeuis.

Doctor Glaser suggests using versatile makeup that will look good for a variety of settings.  This way you can go from the outdoors, to work, to social events after work, without having to keep re-applying.
