No Trial Date For PSU Officials Curley, Schultz
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The judge overseeing the case of two Penn State officials charged with perjury and failing to report suspected child sexual abuse did not set a trial date after a closed-door pretrial meeting Wednesday.
The 50-minute meeting in the Harrisburg chambers of Dauphin County Judge Todd Hoover will likely result in an order that will lay out the schedule of future hearing dates, lawyers said afterward.
Penn State athletic director Tim Curley, who is currently on leave from the university, and retired vice president Gary Schultz are charged with lying about their response when they learned that former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky had been seen showering with a young boy in 2001.
Curley's lawyer, Caroline Roberto, and Schultz's lawyer, Tom Farrell, said little else after the meeting. A spokesman for the attorney general's office also declined to discuss the details of the meeting.
The two university administrators were arrested in November, as Sandusky was first charged with child sexual abuse. Sandusky was convicted by a jury last month of 45 counts for abusing 10 boys and is in jail to await sentencing.
