No More Price Lists On Pennsylvania Turnpike Tickets

HARRISBURG (CBS) - Come January, those who still pay cash to ride the Pennsylvania Turnpike will find the toll schedule will no longer be printed on the paper ticket they get upon entering the highway.

Carl DeFebo, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, says, "Basically, it was a measure that we started in order to reduce our ticket printing costs, especially because the rates now change annually."

It used to be that the Pennsylvania Turnpike had big toll increases years apart. But now the turnpike has smaller increases annually. It was announced this summer that, in January, tolls will go up about 10-percent for cash customers, and three-percent for the EZ-Pass customers who now account for 62-percent of all turnpike transactions.

Once that toll increase hits January 2nd, the toll schedule will no longer be on the ticket, but there's a hands-free hotline service you can call: 1-866-976-TRIP. That's 866-976-8747.
