No Homicide Charges In Delaware County Boy's Death
MEDIA, Pa. (CBS/AP) — Prosecutors in suburban Philadelphia say no homicide charges will be filed in the death of a teenager weeks after a brief altercation at school.
Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan told reporters Monday that an autopsy on 12-year-old Bailey O'Neill showed no evidence that trauma played any role in his March 3 death.
The boy lapsed into a coma following seizures that family members said they believed were related to the Jan. 10 scuffle at a school in Darby Township (see previous story).
A spokesman for the Philadelphia medical examiner's office said Monday that the boy's death stemmed from seizures of undetermined cause.
Whelan said the other boy would be charged with simple assault in juvenile court.
