Investigators Raid Cobbs Creek Home In Connection To Elementary School Abduction Case

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Special Victims Unit task force acted on a search warrant early Friday in West Philadelphia as they advanced their hunt for suspects in a recent child abduction (see related story).
A Special Victims Unit task force assigned to finding those responsible for the recent abduction of a 5-year-old from Bryant Elementary School in West Philadelphia served an overnight warrant after acting on an anonymous tip.
Police raided and searched a home in the 6200 block of Walton Avenue in the Cobbs Creek area. Investigators could be seen taking photos inside and outside of the home and removing bags of items. Police also searched a nearby alleyway.
The house is located approximately two blocks from the little girl's school.
Sources say the items, which CBS 3 is not identifying to protect the investigation, may match those described by the victim. They are now being analyzed at the police lab and DNA tests are being performed.
"I don't know if what we're doing now is going to lead to anything so I'm not in a position to call anyone a suspect. We're just following up on leads," says Philadelphia police commissioner Charles Ramsey.
Three people questioned by police have now been released.
Beyond searching the home to determine if it may be the crime scene, police emphasize no one has been charged.
One neighbor says he didn't believe those living there were involved.
"I don't believe it actually because I know the people who live in the house and I doubt very seriously that they have anything to do with it," says David Simms.
