No Bail Reduction For Man Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Witness In Woodbury
WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) -- Bail will remain at $1 million for a New Jersey man accused of fatally stabbing a woman who testified against him when he was tried for murder in 2004.
State Superior Court Judge M. Christine Allen-Jackson issued her ruling Monday, citing Richard Santiago's lengthy criminal record and other related issues.
Gloucester County prosecutors say Santiago killed 54-year-old Ramona Johnstone in her Woodbury apartment last December. The 60-year-old Camden man is charged with murder in her death.
Johnstone had testified against Santiago in his trial for fatally stabbing Richard King in the same apartment complex in 2004. Santiago was eventually convicted of a lesser charge, passion provocation manslaughter.
He had been released from prison in May 2012 after serving six years.
