NJ Woman, Who Wore Boots With Victim's Blood On Them, Pleads Guilty
WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) — A woman linked to a southern New Jersey slaying after she wore boots with the victim's blood on them to a police interview has pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter.
Gloucester County prosecutors say 41-year-old Lori Hummel of West Deptford faces 24 years in prison when she's sentenced March 28. She also admitted Friday that she conspired with a corrections officer to distribute heroin in the Salem County jail and will likely receive a four-year concurrent term.
Hummell fatally stabbed 54-year-old Thomas Carbin in the neck while they were inside his Westville apartment in December 2010. The two were acquaintances, and prosecutors say Hummell went to Carbin's apartment because she planned to rob him.
Hummell wasn't suspected in the killing until detectives noticed blood on her boots during an interview.
