NJ Troopers Exchange Gunfire In Camden
CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) -- A Camden man is in custody after exchanging gunfire with five state troopers Wednesday who were trying to stop a robbery along the Admiral Wilson Boulevard in Camden.
State Police spokesman Steve Jones says no one was injured in the shooting.
According to Jones, the troopers were in plain clothes and an unmarked car when they spotted a man identified as Joshua A. Polanco holding a gun to another man's head.
Jones says when the officers jumped out of the car, identified themselves and commanded Polanco to put down his weapon, Jones Polanco opened fire.
After a foot chase, Polanco was captured a few blocks away and his gun was recovered.
Polanco is charged with five counts of attempted murder, among other charges. It was unclear Wednesday if he had an attorney.
