NJ Transit Trains To Halt Service At Noon Saturday
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Public transit providers in New Jersey are planning to shut down service before the height of Hurricane Irene arrives.
New Jersey Transit trains will stop running Saturday because of Hurricane Irene.
New Jersey Transit spokeswoman Penny Bassett Hackett says the transit agency will shut down commuter rail service at noon Saturday. Trains will finish routes in progress then.
The Hudson-Bergen, Newark and River Line light rail trains and New Jersey Transit buses are to stop running at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Access Link system that serves people with disabilities also is halting service after 6 p.m. Saturday.
The PATCO train line is planning its last Philadelphia train at 11:30 p.m. Saturday and its last New Jersey-bound train at 12:05 a.m. Sunday.
