NJ State Police Warn Of Fake, Virus-Laden ''Speeding Ticket'' E-Mails
WEST TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) - Be aware there's an e-mail making the rounds that could be deadly to your computer.
The e-mail has a subject line of "Camera Violation," and it claims that you've received a speeding ticket from the New Jersey State Police.
Sgt. Stephen Jones says, don't believe it.
"The (message) stated that it was a photo radar ticket -- that is, similar to a red light ticket. But that's something we don't use in New Jersey at this point. Neither does the state police ever e-mail out a ticket," he warns.
He says the e-mail contains an attached zip file called "Speeding Over 55 Zone," and as soon as that's opened, the virus is let loose.
Jones says if you have any concerns about an e-mail, just hit "delete."
