NJ School Makes Back-To-School Easier, Doing The Shopping For Parents
HADDONFIELD, NJ (CBS) - Shopping for school supplies may not be the most fun thing for parents and kids to do during the summer. One south Jersey school gave the option to have it done for the students.
There are about 480 students at JF Tatem Elementary School in Haddonfield, New Jersey. More than half of those kids will receive all the supplies on the school's list in a kit. They'll find it on their desk when they go back to school next month.
It was Dr. Gino Priolo's idea. He was the principal of the school last year, "Through my research I found a company through Staples it's called Schoolkidz that put together these customized school kits. And after researching the process and running by our PPA to see if they thought it would be a viable option if people would be interested and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive."
In fact, parents seem to love the idea, "(They) seem to be willing to pay what might be a little extra money and save the idea the idea of going to Target, Staples and where ever else they went. Plus, if they went through the program the supply kits are boxed and labeled with their child's name on it, waiting when the child comes in that first day of school."
The hassle-free kits cost on average $26 per student. It was also fundraiser, netting $1,200 for the school.
